End of Over No.20 Peshawar Zalmi 165/8 Last Over (7 runs)

That’s that from ESPNcricinfo’s live coverage of Match 13 of PSL 2022. Don’t forget us to join us again for tomorrow’s PSL 2022 encounter between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United. For now, it’s goodbye and goodnight from Momin Butt and the rest of the team.

Mohammad Rizwan is the player of the match. “I credit our manager for drafting Tim David into our team through a wildcard pick. He has been quite extraordinary for us. I feel lucky to be standing here for the man of the match award because I feel the kind of innings he played for us was game-changing. I try to play selflessly up top and think from the team’s perspective. As a player, you need to keep things simple and you have to have a clear mental approach.”

Wahab Riaz: “I think we didn’t bowl well, especially me. I still back my decision of bowling first. Catches win matches and we dropped both Tim and Sohaib. Fielding is extremely important in T20 leagues. We will work on our fielding in our upcoming matches. We won’t need to change our playing XI a lot, I’ll take the blame for tonight’s performance.”

Presentations coming shortly, stay tuned

Ali: “PZ loosing with big margins. NRR will become a problem for them in the end.”

Murtaza: “PZ were around Tim David runs short!!”

11.20 PM: Another emphatic display by the Multan Sultans. They are indomitable at the moment, having defeated all five opponents in this year’s edition now. Hunting down a gargantuan target of 223 runs was always going to be an uphill task for Peshawar Zalmi. They started decently in the early phases of the powerplay. But it was Shahnawaz Dahani and Imran Tahir who broke the back of Zalmi’s batting order with their three-wicket hauls. Zalmi’s lower-order was left with a truckload of runs to accumulate but not enough time to play with. Ben Cutting played well for his 52* off 31 to limit some damage but 57 runs is still a hefty margin. A lot to ponder over for them as far as their bowling and fielding are concerned.

Multan Sultans have won by 57 runs

19.60 Muzarabani to Cutting Again, shuffles outside off to this attempted bouncer and tries to hoick it over deep fine leg, fails to get any connection on it no run

19.46 Muzarabani to Cutting Launched into the orbit, friendly full-toss on the pads, goes back and across and helps it on its way over deep square leg; a lot of airtime on this and it soars into the stands SIX
19.30 Muzarabani to Cutting Fuller delivery, swerving into the pads, Cutting tries to whip it away but it sneaks through his legs, excellent diving stop from Rizwan no run
19.20 Muzarabani to Cutting Leg-stump yorker, clipped gingerly into the on-side no run
19.21 Muzarabani to Cutting Full and wide outside off, just outside the tramlines though and has re-bowl 1 wide

17.56 Muzarabani to Cutting Whacked for six! That’s some riposte by the batsman, hangs back to this shortish delivery and pulls it solidly over the deep midwicket boundary. He’s got the intended connection and it soars over the boundary fence SIX

Zia Abbasi: “I am unable to decipher why PZ management or its captain is not being imaginative in such a high scoring chase. A guy like Cutting should have been promoted up to whack the bowlers and give atleast a chance to orthodox batsmen like Malik or Rutherford to delve deep. ”

A concussion check underway

16.21 Shahnawaz Dahani to Mohammad Umar Fired into the blockhole, Umar jams his bat down and digs it out 1 run
16.21 Shahnawaz Dahani to Mohammad Umar Oh that’s a rip-snorter! Vicious bouncer to the tail-ender, Umar pokes at it outside off but gets beaten by the extra pace; it brushes his outside edge and flies to the right of Rizwan who dives and takes a great catch. This is quite sensational. Oh, hang on. It’s been called a no-ball: second shoulder-height delivery in the over. Geez, that’s harsh 1 no ball

Mohammad Umar walks out

Ahsan Butt: “Rizwan and Shadab are slowly creeping up on the list of most successful captains in the PSL!”
