IPL, or the Indian Premier League, is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in India. It was founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007 as a way to increase interest in the sport. The league consists of eight teams that compete against each other in a round-robin format followed by playoffs.
